Faculty of Public Policy

In order to establish the welfare society that enables us to realize lifelong human development in a variety of ways in cooperation with individuals, NPOs, regional communities, companies, and local governments, we foster human resources with ability in policy planning, problem identification and problem solution, and individuals who are capable of taking charge of regional welfare activities and human development.

The Department of Public Policy and the Department of Welfare Society of the Faculty of Public Policy aim to achieve our goal, “Striving for the welfare society by developing public policy.”

 

 Department of Public Policy

The Department of Public Policy carries out education and research on public policy in the various fields of social sciences such as science of law, politics, and economics.

 Department of Welfare Society

The Department of Welfare Society  carries out education and research on the comprehensive theory, methodology as well as on the sciences that serve as the foundation of the former, to realize a welfare society from the perspectives of regional welfare and human development.

 

Four minors in response to student demand

The Faculty of Public Policy prepares a very systematic minor program, in addition to the major program, in response to the rising eagerness of students who aspire to acquire a broad thinking power, flexible ideas and multifaceted problem solving capabilities that are demanded by today’s modern society. The four minor programs are composed of the Social Welfare Program and the Human Development Program for students belonging to the Department of Public Policy, as well as the Social Security Program and the Local Government Policy Program for students belonging to the Department of Welfare Society. If the students acquire the designated credits, the minor degree will be officially conferred in addition to their bachelor’s degree upon graduation.

Minor for students belonging to the

Department of Public Policy

・Social Welfare Program

Students will select and learn subjects in relation to social welfare such as Introduction to Social Welfare Theory, Gerontological Welfare Theory, Public Assistance Theory, Child Welfare Theory, People with Disability Welfare Theory, Legal Welfare Theory.

・Human Development Program

Students will select and learn subjects related to human development such as Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Pedagogy, Introduction to Psychology, Lifelong Learning Theory, Personality Development Theory, and Sociology of the Family.

Minor for students belonging to the

Department of Welfare Society

・Social Security Program

Students will select and learn subjects related to social security such as Social Security Theory, Labor Laws, Constitution, Public Finance Studies, Social Policy Theory, Economic Policy Theory, Political Science, and Family Law.

・Local Government Policy Program

Students will select and learn subjects related to local government policy such as Theory of Public Involvement, Local Government Theory,

Administrative Law, Policy Process Theory, Regional Economics Theory, Regional Finance Theory, and Public Policy Practicum.
