University Forests

facade of the building

The Oe forest site, the first university forests of KPU, was established in 1902.
At present, we have various forest types spread over six sites throughout Kyoto Prefecture: Japanese cedar and cypress plantations, coppice forests, natural forests with cool-temperate deciduous trees, and bamboo forests.
The university forests are used for undergraduate fieldwork and as study sites for students and faculties. We also open fields and facilities of the university forests to people through Field Seminars.
In the largest Forest of Ono (403 ha), located in Miyama-cho, Nantan City, the school building can accommodate up to 50 people per night.
